Create your own hand-carved prints using traditional woodcut and linocut printmaking techniques in this beginner workshop!
 
During the workshop, you will:
Learn the difference between woodblock and linocut printing
Practice safe carving techniques and proper tool handling
Sketch a design and transfer it to a carving block using carbon paper or direct drawing
Carve your own printing block
Experiment with a variety of papers, including thick fine art paper, lightweight paper, newsprint, and more
Ink and print multiple copies of your design
Learn how artists properly title and sign their prints
 
You'll leave with:
Students are encouraged to trade prints with each other at the end of the class, so you’ll leave not only with your own carved block and handmade prints, but also a small collection of artwork from fellow students!
 
All tools and materials are included.
Printmaking tool kits and supplies will also be available for purchase after class for anyone ready to continue printing at home and accidentally acquire a new hobby.
